Ultrasound has been used for cosmetic purposes since the early 1980’s.  Using the high speed vibration of ultrasound, exfoliation of dead skin cells can now be done without harsh, abrasive materials.  The only product needed is water which effectively and gently exfoliates dead skin cells when propelled into supersonic action by the hand-held ultrasonic tool.

The tool itself looks something like an electronic spatula which the Esthetician glides gently over the skin.  A fine line of steam carries away the dead skin cells while the vibrating action works deeper to “shake up” healthy cells and temporarily separate them from each other.  The skin is then perfectly posed to accept treatment — no dead skin blocking the way, and a greater surface area of each healthy cell is exposed.

Ultrasound applied over certain serums contributes to greater effectiveness through deeper and more thorough penetration of the products. The mechanisms of action of ultrasound should be considered in terms of four categories. First is the thermal effect which relates to the heat generated into the deeper tissues and especially the collagen and the benefits derived from this. Second is the mechanical effect which relates to the high-speed vibrations (25,000 vibrations per second!) that act on the tissue just like a micro massage. Third is the production of countless microscopic droplets of oxygen from the vibrational process. Fourth are the biological effects which include blood vessel dilation, improved blood flow and circulation. improved lymph flow and muscle relaxation. Skin treatments are more effective since deep cleansing, exfoliation and moisturizing are improved.  This is achieved by high frequency ultrasonic vibration that penetrate deep into pores and hair follicles to break up old, dead cells secretions and oily blockages.  Also, skin metabolism is increased which causes lymph flow to increase which causes waste products to be removed more rapidly and effectively.  The more waste products removed the better penetration and absorption of our skin care products.  Deep tissue micro massage improves skin tone, softness and texture.  All combined, these create younger, healthier looking skin.
